Life on the Edge Life on the edge Hanging my toes off the ledge Keep staring down At those who have crashed to the ground I'm standing high above a funeral pyre As licking flames climb higher and higher Higher and higher But I'm somehow never singed This much is true Long shadows twist amidst the ghastly flames The embers beckon me and call my name But my refrain Is I'm still alive no matter what they do Come and gone Loved and lost By the storm they have been tossed Alive and dead, I see them as I lie in bed. Life on the edge Hanging my toes off the ledge Keep staring down At those who have crashed to the ground Come out your corner and you call my name Pretend its '81 and this is just a game It's such a shame The drugs and fame robbed the things That you once had Your mom and dad Had to turn their back on you They pulled the plug on their love for you. Life on the edge Hanging my toes off the ledge Keep staring down At those who have crashed to the ground Tick tick tick time bomb. Life on the edge Hanging my toes off the ledge Keep staring down At those who have crashed to the ground Tick tick tick time bomb. Life on the edge Hanging my toes off the ledge Keep staring down At those who have crashed to the ground

The Unnamed 04:00
The Unnamed You are like the voice Of a generation now lost Of a ship on an ocean that's tossed And the SOS that you sent Saved you more than them It's shame You're to blame But no one else calls you by name It's a shame You're to blame But no one can call you- By name. So please don't you fear That the terror tribe might appear That you'll vanish and just disappear With no abductor presently near You might just be in the clear It's shame You're to blame But no one else calls you by name It's a shame You're to blame But no one can call you- By name.

Light Speed 05:17
Light Speed I hit the ground on my own Walk round this city with a chip upon my shoulder Facing oblivion This tired world spins and I just get older Walking these streets at night They'll bump your shoulder But they never look you eye-to-eye My lads are all well-known So decide... Let's hit light speed. A million stars in the sky A wedding band for father time but even older 8 million light years wide Just getting to its edge Would break the hardest soldier Where are my troops tonight? They're bustin' someone on the west side 'cos of boredom They'll sleep real well tonight They don't hide.... Let's hit light speed. I got my mind on my money But I'm losing my mind People walking by won't even glance It makes me sober I've got my hand on my weapon And my weapon's my pride It's my validation It's my Red October Get me Out of places That spout of claiming to be While really lacking to me I need something Cosmic, that one thing: I'll beat the speed of time And then I'll show you- Let's hit light speed. I hit the ground on my own Walk round this city with a chip upon my shoulder Facing oblivion This tired world spins and I just get older Walking these streets at night They'll bump your shoulder But they never look you eye-to-eye My lads are all well-known So decide... Let's hit light speed.

Uncertain Times We've fallen on uncertain times Corners where light can't show its face Hollowed by turpentine The stink itself evokes disgrace Park the car and walk A mile down to the river bank Covered feet- in cement blocks To the depths we slowly sank. Lights out on me I can't keep it anymore In uncertain times It can blow your mind. Lights out on me I'm gone I can't hardly see. These uncertain times Are blowing my mind. They found the car on the hill above No sign of struggle or restraint Taped to the wheel a single glove Pull carpet fibers from a stain Trace the registry to me And come full circle out of frame We've fallen on uncertainty A sheriff's badge without a name. Lights out on me I can't keep it anymore In uncertain times It can blow your mind. Lights out on me I'm gone I can't hardly see. These uncertain times Are blowing my mind.

Vindicator (lyrics by Grey/Critt) So what's the story now? You left them no doubt You finally made it out They hunt your head with no sympathy Your chord rings out like a symphony Oh yea! The paper's headline read clearly: "Once Fallen-Doomed- Now Brings Us To Our Knees" And that- Truly makes me pleased. So get revenge for us all! You must know where to go tonight I just know you will make things right And it's always been this way Crush the indignant foes Bring new highs to these lows Your secret identity will be secure with me. Such a saint Taking wrong- wringing it out Then settle up Satire! Everyday you risk your life for those unknown Always searching for the just from judge's throne As the bad Shake from their knees They know- And that makes me pleased. So get revenge for us all! You must know where to go tonight I just know you will make things right And it's always been this way Crush the indignant foes Bring new highs to these lows Your secret identity will be secure with me. (Critt) They tried to disarm and hide me Not even invite me Then kharma arrived It wasn't likely To derive these things all lightly All agitation from my patience I had to take in Cause the wait Turned from days into weeks and increased into months I got not a thing to ensconce If I was Humpty Dumpty I won't be too stiff to get stunned in the run If my destined destination was a cliff cause I'm about to under these scums Impairing all these barricades and parapets Getting to a point I never dreamed to ever ever get Turn the reprimand into remembrance Let my raps be my advocate So they won't forget but regret How hard they made it hard to get by and off a surface Full of denial buying bias but their purge has been purchased Even it if wasn't on purpose The timing was perfect And I do refuel Obtuse to reviews What you hear in your ear coming through Is my detailed view on my rear view Death is the cousin of sleep Reason why they're feeling bleak Falling oblique as theta waves taking their fatigue Hitting the sea knee deep Oblivious to the fact that it wasn't their niche Messing with me and my dreams (Grey) So get revenge for us all! You must know where to go tonight I just know you will make things right And it's always been this way Crush the indignant foes Bring new highs to these lows Your secret identity will be secure with me.

Polaris 04:02
Polaris I only need to find one way Blinding lights that shine from space The tingling in my skin It's starting once again Increasingly alone Can't find my way back home The sun sinks in the sky As darkness brings the night We watch the hours go by Under soft moonlight. I only need to find one way Blinding lights that shine from space I'm sick of feeling bad So tired of being sad Dolorous once again Soulless with no friends The blinking stars tonight Wink down to show me love I know I'll be alright As long as they're above Polaris, guide my way.

Grief is the Price That You Pay For Love Grief is the price that you pay for love (2x's) Looking back on it Hindsight makes you crazy Love came wandering up the house Knocked upon my door And then ducked right out Stood upon my porch Squinting into the grey Streetlight's hum hides her fleeting steps So I'm left alone With these trembling lips. Grief is the price that you pay for love (2x's) She comes back around Stays the night then she say "I done found me another man You might know him, too- he's your preacher man." "Bitch, get out my door!" Tears fall just like the rain She is sorry she did the deed So you lay alone But you can't sleep in peace. Grief is the price that you pay for love. (4x's) But you can't get enough of it! Grief is the price that you pay for love. (4x's)

You'll Never Get Home I don't mind pushing you away To combine would mean us tragedy It's all fine in the light of day But when you come home (Things don't feel the same anymore ) It's such a shame (and I'm bored) No one to blame (anymore) The economy tore us up inside (but your not alone) So we had to hide (from the hordes) Scared animals (multitudes poor) Infantile pride (pride's on the line) Tears us up inside (It's a side show every night) Because you'll never get home. These dark days bring us misery Crying babes in a nursery Want so bad to hear mother's heart beat But she's gone, and once what was a home's now an empty zone It's such a shame (and I'm bored) No one to blame (anymore) The economy tore us up inside (but your not alone) So we had to hide (from the hordes) Scared animals (multitudes poor) Infantile pride (pride's on the line) Tears us up inside (It's a side show every night) Because you'll never get home. You'll never get home (7x's) It's such a shame (and I'm bored) No one to blame (anymore) The economy tore us up inside (but your not alone) So we had to hide (from the hordes) Scared animals (multitudes poor) Infantile pride (pride's on the line) Tears us up inside (It's a side show every night) Because you'll never get home.

Epilogue 06:19
Epilogue Stand in a trance Colored lights blind your face There's something else Trying to invade your space Collectively comatose 808's thump in your chest It's hard at times to put the past to rest You don't have to come You don't have to stay It won't stop my nosedive anyway So let's make a toast To dear old friends Who have crashed and burned And reached their ends Buy another drink Ambience you adore It hides the scales From the armor you wore Catch a lost soul's eye A twinkle glossed by frost In close embrace Now bound are two both lost You don't have to come You don't have to stay It won't stop my nosedive anyway So let's make a toast To dear old friends Who have crashed and burned And reached their ends Bye- You're going out in style The room fades into night The blizzard snuffs the light And paramedics pound you black and white Your so-called friends slink away You'll be dead to them now Another casualty Adrenaline is forced into your veins You don't have to come You don't have to stay It won't stop my nosedive anyway So let's make a toast To dear old friends Who have crashed and burned And reached their ends

about

Recorded between September of 2012 through March of 2013 at Grey Skies Studio, Dallas, Tx. Instruments, hardware, and software used on this album are as follows: a Fender Squier Jaguar Bass, a 1982 Squier Stratocaster, a 1986 Martin Shenandoah Dreadnought acoustic guitar, an AudioTechnica P48 cardioid microphone, Logic amps and instruments, Logic Pro 9 mixing and mastering software.

When you purchase Breakbeat Ice, you are not putting money into some dopey label that will then misappropriate it into a mediocre boy band or a developmental deal for the head of the label's kid. Instead, it will fund MORE music from ME- and that's a good thing, if you like my music.

"Special thanks to the following: Ashley Reynolds, Theresa Griffin, Vohnbeatz, Symbolyc One, Talib Kweli, and last but not least J Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes lent his ear to the mixing of half of this record, and it is better for it. J Rhodes is a production machine, recently having completed tracks for Rhymefest, Talib Kweli, and The Game, to name a few. I also want to thank you, the listener. Thank you for wanting something different, and listening to my music. That in itself inspires me to create greater works." -Grey
